Cultural Conversations
Each edition is built around a thought-provoking theme, with inspiring speakers, hands-on activities, performances, and music. No two events are the same – each one has its own unique energy. Whether you’re a painter, ceramicist, designer, photographer, marketeer or just someone with a creative spark, you’ll find your people here.
It’s free, it’s open to everyone, and it’s where ideas turn into action.
Come for the stories. Stay for the energy. Be part of the conversation.
Next event: 21 May 2025 – 6:30-8:30pm*
Hidden Stories
This edition, Hidden Stories, is all about shining a light on the narratives that often go unheard, from the personal stories of some of Hull’s most innovative creatives to to those with intriguing tales to tell. We’ll be exploring how stories shape identity, creativity and community, and why telling them matters more than ever.
We’ll be joined by Ben Watkinson, Global Brand Director at GF Smith, who’ll share the incredible legacy and future vision of the iconic Hull-based paper manufacturer as they enter their 140th year in the city. We’ll also hear from Natalie Tillison, founder of Hull-based design studio Folie Chambre who’s work has been featured in Vogue, House & Garden and more.
And because no good story is complete without a little performance, we’ll be welcoming Michelle Dee who will be performing a newly commissioned spoken word piece relating to this month’s theme of Hidden Stories.
*Arrive early to catch up with friends and colleagues or stick around after to keep the conversation going.
