Access

At Absolutely Cultured we are committed to removing barriers to creative development, working towards providing a level playing field for everyone we work with or who visits us.

We believe everyone should be treated equally regardless of race, sex, gender identification, sexual orientation, national origin, language, religion, age, disability, genetic information, pregnancy, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Access accommodations can be made on an individual basis. Simply contact us by email ahead of your visit, or call us on 01482 323 484, and we will get back to you to confirm your appointment and any specific access accommodations that you’ve requested.

We will continue to upgrade our facilities and welcome any suggestions, advice and feedback.

Our exhibitions

All of our gallery text and artist information is available in standard and large print, as well as Dyslexia-friendly and Easy Read formats. These can be found outside the gallery spaces and on the exhibition pages of our website.

Depending on the nature of each exhibition, we also provide additional access accommodations such as sensory ear defenders, Quiet Hours, and sensory adjustments.

Our venue and location

Humber Street Gallery is located on Humber Street and provides step-free access. Humber Street is a pedestrianised street, with cobblestones in the middle and flat paving at the sides.

We currently offer:

  • Level access throughout the building.
  • Emergency call points throughout the building.
  • Corridors that allow for most wheelchair/mobility aid/pushchair users or people with Guide dogs to pass comfortably.
  • Guide and Support dog friendly gallery spaces.
  • All gender bathrooms of varying sizes to incorporate different access needs.
  • Flashing beacon fire alarms for hearing-impaired users.
  • Sympathetic light levels for visually impaired visitors.
  • Staff on-site are first aid trained and evacuation chair trained.

Dogs at the gallery

We are a dog-friendly building, though some exhibitions may require dogs to be on leads.

A breastfeeding-friendly space

As a welcoming space for all, we operate a breastfeeding-friendly policy in our cafe and exhibition spaces.
