Arts Programming
Absolutely Cultured presents world-class cultural experiences, whilst creating high-profile opportunities for artists who have developed their practice regionally.
Our ambition is to be known for making contemporary art accessible without compromising art or underestimating audiences, presenting an ambitious, thought-provoking cultural programme in a welcoming and engaging environment.
By collaborating and co-creating with artists, communities, volunteers and partners, Absolutely Cultured makes work relevant to the people of Hull whilst still resonating with audiences nationally and internationally.
Contributing to cultural regeneration and place shaping, our programming roots Absolutely Cultured in Hull, creating opportunities for more people from all backgrounds to engage in, experience and participate in great art, and to develop creative careers.
Our core arts programme takes place within Humber Street Gallery our venue and visual arts base.
Since our launch in May 2018, we have curated, commissioned and produced exhibitions, events and installations across visual arts, performance, dance, music and sound.
Within our venue, Humber Street Gallery we have present contemporary visual arts exhibitions year-round and we have delivered many large-scale outdoor events; Model City, The Witching Hour (also took place in Wirral), Urban Legends: Northern Lights, Home Town Story (part of the Contains Strong Language Festival 2018), Dominoes, Flood Lights and Luminarium.
As well as directly producing and curating work ourselves, we have delivered projects and commissioned work with partners such as Contains Strong Language 2018, PRS Foundation, IETM, Yorkshire Water, Living With Water, the University of Hull and New Contemporaries.
