Saturday Sessions
Saturday Sessions are a newly commissioned series of free to attend live performances at Humber Street Gallery, from musicians studying at the University of Hull and working across the city. Arranged and curated by Joshua Craig, musicians featured include Jack Brown, Joshua Craig, Aaron Green, and Amelia Quinn.
Through experimental sound, vocals, and live instrumentation, the artists will perform in response to the exhibitions on show at Humber Street Gallery.
Reflecting on themes, ideas, and sights present in our exhibitions, Saturday Sessions provide audiences with the chance to experience visual art through an eclectic arrangement of sound, words, and musical improvisation.
Meet the musicians
Aaron Green is a composer and jazz musician, originally from Leicester, now based in Hull. Having completed both his Undergraduate Study in Music Production and Master’s in Music at the University of Hull, he has been active in the Hull music scene for the last couple of years. Aaron’s playing and compositional style can be traced through areas of contemporary jazz all the way into the realms of film scoring and musical theatre.
Jack Brown is a Classical musician and composer.
Amelia Quinn is a singer and songwriter from Yorkshire. Influenced by artists such as YEBBA, Lizzie Esau and Phoebe Bridgers, Amelia’s songwriting is relatable to those growing up in this era, with a bittersweet take on the universal experiences of maturing and finding yourself through relations with others. Amelia’s latest single Again was released through DK Records in March 2023.
Joshua Craig is an Ambient composer and guitarist from South London. Joshua has worked with artists such as Ruth Lyon, Rhys Evans, and Blossom Caldarone, and his latest singles the spot that we agreed. and don’t take me home are available to stream and purchase on Bandcamp.
