Sinuous City, Limbic City. FloodLights, Absolutely Cultured, 2021 © Limbic City

Sinuous City, Limbic Cinema

Sinuous City is an immersive experience and video art gallery created by multimedia creative studio Limbic Cinema, poet Vicky Foster, and composer Joe Acheson (Hidden Orchestra).

Kinetic lighting, multi-layered projections, and spatial sound design will combine to create an abstract and at times visceral depiction of a flood. Visuals of cherished personal items and familiar locations are brought to the surface, giving a sense of identity, fragility, resilience, and the passage of time. Vicky Foster’s poetry interweaves the experiences of local people to create a community voice that gives historical context to the narrative. You can read all four poems HERE.

After the six-minute experience audiences will be invited further into the space where a series of visual poems reflect on the dualities of living with water. From past to future, tranquillity to chaos, Hull is a city that has to look both forwards and backward to understand its fluid relationship with water.
