BEGINNING: Indoors to Outdoors
Shaped into drops, rainfall on porcelain
Foamed in the mouth with fluoride paste
Steeped and pressed, cupped and tasted
Steamed in soft towelling, warm against face
Berry-sheened bubbles, soaked into cotton,
Shot by jets, scrubbed with brushes, directed by blades
Lying in ribbons that snake the city
Rising and falling in salted waves
PAUSE IN RECORDING BEFORE SHIFT
Running at windows, racing in gutters
Bubbling in grass and rising in place
Repelled by rubber, deflected by nylon,
Shaped into drops that fall at pace.
Finding a level, pooling and puddling
In rivers and dykes and running, displaced.
