Singularities, Hull Dance
An educational and artistic project involving emerging professional and community dancers, Singularities is a digital-turned-physical international collaboration between Hull Dance and Lithuanian dance theatre Okarukas.
Following a series of online workshops exploring butoh, a Japanese dance technique renowned for creating a powerful and unique way of moving, some participants chose to take the next step of their journey by creating this performance.
Created under the guidance of Okarukas (visual artist and choreographer Sakurako and music composer, singer and dancer Phil Von) Singularities considers the transformation of a group of people as a whole undergoing a crisis together, at the same time aware of individual drama, struggle and transformation.
