Our contribution to the COVID-19 crisis community response

We have been blown away by the fantastic work being put into action by our friends and community groups across Hull and beyond, and we want to contribute to those efforts how best we can too.

Following on from our update earlier in the week, we wanted to let you know that we’re working with both Hull City Council and East Riding Council (through HEY Smile Foundation) to put together a co-ordinated plan for local assistance from our volunteers in the face of the COVID-19 crisis.

It’s early days, and both councils are in the process of figuring out what activities should and could take place to support the most vulnerable, whilst also making sure that our wonderful volunteers aren’t put at risk themselves. It might take the form of dog walking or delivering prescriptions, helping food banks or just having a chat on the phone with those who are isolated.

There’s a lot to consider, but we’ve been amazed by the incredible show of hands from our volunteers who want to be involved so far, and we’ll keep you updated with more info as soon as we have it.

Keep your spirits up and stay safe – we’re in this together!
