I am a Sexy Cat Person Performing the Miracle of Life, Lilly Williams

I am a Sexy Cat Person Performing the Miracle of Life was part of a series of activities made by local artists and commissioned by Absolutely Cultured in response to an open call out for Creative Hull in 2021.

An artist and comics maker based in Hull, Lilly Williams presented a brand-new showcase of illustrative works, exploring her experience of pregnancy, birth and parenthood during a global pandemic.

A welcome space for parents and their little ones, this exhibition took the visitor on a journey of becoming a mother through illustrating the physicality, the hilarity and the anguish using her alter ego ‘Scaredy Cat’.

“Dear traveler journeying through the creative depths of Hull, please visit my colourful celebration of messy motherhood. Meet a scaredy cat who went and got pregnant during a global pandemic: hear the gory details, the gloopy goodness, the sublime, the ridiculous and the downright difficult. Bring your children, bring your parents, come alone with curious eyes! We all got born didn’t we? Let’s talk about it!” – Lilly Williams

Through a mural and a series of drawings, I am a Sexy Cat Person Performing the Miracle of Life took you on a vibrant expedition celebrating messy motherhood, perfect for those who have ever given birth or been born.
