Hello, I’m Lucy Elmes, the Gallery Operations Coordinator.
I manage visitor experience and the smooth day-to-day running of Humber Street Gallery, supporting the exhibition and events programme.
I have worked and volunteered for a variety of organisations across Yorkshire, including Scrapstore, Studio Eleven, Centre of Ceramic Art, York Art Gallery, Freedom Festival, and Mencap. After studying English at Bristol University, I taught English in Thailand and lived in Canada, before working in PR & marketing, and finance in London.
I’m proud of helping to save the Three Ships mural, supporting the development of arts and culture in Hull, and getting a bear hug from John Grant in Hull City Hall.
I love ceramics, was born in Hornsea, and am a long-time collector of Hornsea Pottery, so could talk about it all day! Last year I set up Claymobile to help people get creative during lockdown.
