Bluebeany Art Club, Anna Bean
Bluebeany Art Club is part of a series of activities made by local artists and commissioned by Absolutely Cultured in response to an open call out.
Bluebeany Art Club as part of Creative Hull is a showcase of the months spent getting creative in quarantine through video, photography, paintings, model-making and more.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, artist Bluebeany (Anna Bean) used social media to run a weekly online art club with a different theme for people of all ages and experience. Using Pinterest boards and Spotify playlists, 24 Bluebeany art clubs were held with an ethos of ‘just for fun’, inspiring people to take time out of their day to create something new with available materials from home.
Those new to creative practice along with established artists were encouraged to take part in a productive activity to boost wellbeing and positive mental health and since then, at least two participants new to creative practice have had work accepted into the Ferens Art Gallery Open Exhibition.
“Art making is magic.. Come along and view some the fabulous artworks produced during lockdown for the Bluebeany Art Club. Be inspired to create your own artwork and become part of the magic.” – Anna Bean
