Hey, I’m Abi Bell and I’m the Volunteer Programme Manager.
My role is to lead on the planning, development and operations of the Volunteer Programme to ensure it continues to evolve and thrive, be sustainable and deliver tangible benefits to the city, communities and the volunteers themselves.
Since leaving university I worked in marketing until I joined the organisation back in 2016; initially employed as a freelancer to assist with comms and to support the Volunteer Programme during its set up for Hull’s year as UK City of Culture. Since then, I’ve been involved in all sorts of weird and wonderful projects, from helping to co-ordinate 800 volunteers for a freezing photoshoot on Humber Bridge at 4am, to taking 150 volunteers to Edinburgh to support local artists at the Fringe Festival. I also helped organise the volunteers for an emergency response to the pandemic, where they supported vulnerable people in crisis across 3100 hours of shifts.
